Journaling: So the question---> What is befia? Daniel began saying "befia" some time after his first year. We had no idea what befia was. We tried time and again to figure it out. And for the MOST part now we understand what Daniel is saying. But, "befia" had eluded us. That was until last month. Daniel was standing on the ledge of the tub in the master bath. The ledge is about 6 inches deep all the way around, and of course Daniel is not supposed to stand up there. So, he gets up there and is saying to us "Befia." Here we go. We keep trying to guess and finally Daniel says "Befia. Befia. Be careful. Befia." Well when Daniel is doing something he should not be doing he will often times say "don't..." basically telling on himself. It was so cute he knew he shouldn't be up there so, he was telling himself and telling us to tell him to be careful. The funniest thing though was that Jesse and I had just been talking about befia weeks earlier and wondering if we ever would know the meaning. And, it also struck us as funny that Daniel was saying befia and right in the middle of it at that very instant the transition came and he mastered the pronunciation. At last the mystery of befia solved. December 2007
Manufactured moment? Maybe? But, this brief moment in time was SWEET, and I wanted to remember it. Clare and I asked Daniel and Julia if they wanted to hold hands? Daniel grabbed Julia's hand,- and she let him. Then they just started walking. There was such a pure and sweet element to their walk together, and I couldn't help but want to capture just a glimpse of it for Daniel's book.
