July 08 Highlights

1. July is Cherry Festival time here in beautiful Traverse City. We kicked it all off with some family cherry picking at Rennie's orchard. They have a really cute set up there and they are super nice folks. We will surely be back in years to come.

2. We took in the air show. It was pretty cool, but even with earmuffs Daniel thought it was too loud!

3. Daniel and I had a super fun outing with Julia and Clare. The kids got to see/pet some geese up close, and we all got to sample a variety of cherry goodies, and tour the orchard and learn a whole lot about cherry growing- It was all quite interesting!

4. Scruffy is really warming up to all of us- even fluffy :)

5. We took in 2 parades which Daniel thoroughly enjoyed

6. Had friends come up from Grand Rapids, which we took to various fun cherry festival activities. Daniel had a blast having his little buddies over for the entire weekend- They were a whirlwind of activity!

7. WE PASSED COURT and FIKIR OFFICIALLY BECAME OUR DAUGHTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8. We finished painting Fikir's bed and got her room put altogether :) It was such a a fun family project. We are all equally excited about her becoming a part of our family and coming home.

9. More cherry picking!

10. We finished packing Jesse's and Fikir's luggage for the AUG/SEPT trip to Ethiopia.

11. We mailed off 2 more care packages for Fikir. One with loads of clothes, another book that I made her and a little doll, plus some really excellent cloth diapers and diaper covers for the orphanage and various toys. The other care package had some cute Traverse City tees and a fun toy for Fikir, plus some of the clothes, toys, and formula that are gifts for the orphanage that we could not fit into the luggage due to weight restrictions. More on this in  the next post. And you don't even want to know how much it cost to mail these! But SO VERY WORTH IT!!!!

Another Fabulous month down for the Johnson clan with once again oodles to be thankful for!!!!!
