Escape from migraine hell

I spent most of the week suffering in a prison of migraine pain. I'm just glad it finally passed by mid day yesterday. I couldn't get on the computer much, and I didn't really feel like taking pics either, so here's a brief recap for the week.

This weeks tidbits
1. Jesse was off from work this week. YEAH! But the temps have hovered around zero all week so we didn't get to go out with the kids. Darn uncooperative weather!
2. Anticipating the newest member of the Kwan family anytime now! So exciting!
3. We finally picked a preschool!
4. white knuckled it to the pediatrician's office in near zero visibility (due to the blowing snow). Found out Elena's scalp condition is getting better , but not the molluskum.
5. reading my new book on exposure along with my camera manual and am starting to understand my camera better. Couldn't get into this as much as I wanted to due to the migraine.

So, # 3 needs some elaboration. We found out the school that was at the very top of our list(the private Montessori) mixes ages 3-6. Marked them off the list. That was something Daniel didn't like about the first school we visited, and neither did we! Not a good fit for our little guy. Another was marked off the list, because it was run too much like a daycare. We added another to the list but marked it off after a brief visit. The director was not very warm and didn't make a good impression (we took that as a bad indicator for the program). Plus there were other things we didn't like. Overall it didn't seem like a good fit for Daniel. We may revisit this school though when Daniel is ready for kindergarten. The preschool is separate from the rest of the school and run by a different director. This school has an excellent reputation. Next, the private religious school was wonderful! First and most importantly Daniel loved it! The classes are at this time small only 8 children per 2-3 adults. It was a great environment.  I can bring Elena anytime Daniel needs me or I am volunteering in the class. For preschool they do not teach their religious dogma. In fact not all of the teachers are of the faith of the school including Daniel's teacher. And, just for the record we don't have anything against this religion (or any for that matter), we have A LOT of family and friends of this religion. We just don't want our kids inundated with any dogma at this time. We will revisit our thoughts on this when it is time for kindergarten. For now though, this school is the perfect fit for Daniel and we have only positive things to say!

Daniel will become the newest little holy angel the week after next. When we started looking at preschools we were looking for this coming fall, but he is ready now. It's hard (for me) even though it is only going to be 2 1/2 hours twice a week. Daniel is most nervous about using the preschool potty, so we went to the Gap and got him a bunch of elastic waistband pants so that he doesn't have to worry about snaps, that can be so tricky for little fingers. He says he is most excited about making new friends. Now to take him shopping for a special tote bag for school.

Daniel and Elena providing me the perfect opportunity to get a little scrappy :)

Sorry you have been suffering in the grips of a migraine, great news about the school it must have been a worry and ouldn't have helped the sore head at all ! I totally know how you feel about Daniel going to pre-school, it was never easy for me and I always felt like my arm had been removed, something missing KWIM, but it is good for you both, and will give Daniel masses of confidence and lots of little tales he will be aching to tell mummy and daddy when he comes home each day, cute layout, and lovely photos XXX
