Child of the Day

Daniel and Laney are off to a great start with preschool. Daniel was the child of the day yesterday in his preschool 4's class, and Laney was today in preschool 3's. They were so, excited that it was each of their days. They got to be the line leader for the day, give the class weather report, put the month day number on the class calendar, ring the clean up bell, have mommy and sibling visit during the whole class period, and bring snack for the whole class.

This year class snack is so hard! There are so many food allergies- so, no nuts, dairy, apples, and I am sure there are other things I am forgetting. Last year I had it down with a snack rotation- crackers with cheese and fresh fruit, or smoothies and yogurt. Now the cheese, smoothies, and yogurt are out. I couldn't even do fresh fruit these past two days. It's been plague of the fruit flies for weeks. Any preschool class healthy snack Ideas out there?

Oh, yes, so back to child of the day. Daniel is doing so amazingly well :) Last year he was so shy and wouldn't answer his teacher. This year he is so comfortable and he very animatedly gave the weather report and answered all his teachers questions. It was so wonderful to see him blossoming like this and so early in the school year.

And Laney too loved being the child of the day. She marched right up to the front of the line this morning and relished all the extra attention all morning long. She cracked up her teachers when she was asked to introduce Daniel and I to the class. She very loudly, as is typical of Laney, said "That is my mommy over there, and this is my brother Daniel. Oh! And, I have a daddy too! He's at work right now!"

Below Daniel, Julia, and Laney. They all got in trouble more than once for cutting up during circle time. They are so used to all being together during playdates. I am so glad they are all so close. I was fun seeing the three of them together at preschool. They all pretty much did everything together.
