May 2008 Highlights

I've been so sketchy with my posts I thought I'd do some highlights for recent months.

1. Daniel got one very cool police pedal car that we can't keep him off of. I bet he's pedaled a 100 miles already :) My siblings and I had these same old fashioned pedal cars when we were little tykes! and I guess we had just as much fun pretending and pedaling.

2. Daniel is still every bit as much into building his crazy block towers as he was a year and even 2 years ago. He gets some serious playtime out of those blocks that grandpa C got him.

3. The bathtub drama continues with Daniel screaming and crying if he thinks the water is getting anyplace near his head, but the little man still gets lost in a world of play with those mammoth amounts of bubbles that accompany most baths.

4. Most evenings you will find us out "adventuring" as Daniel likes to call it, on one of the many walking, hiking, and biking trails in the area. This is one of the things we love most about living here. There are so many trails to explore that it never seems to get old.

5. Daniel participated in his last Kindermusic for the season, and as much as he loves it, it will be great to take a break from it for the summer.

6. With all the recent windy weather Daniel picked himself out a very pink and very pretty Dora kite which he has had fun learning to fly. Wonder what he will be thinking of his kite choice a year or two from now- so funny how things change with time ;)

7. I've been getting back into the swing of scrap booking, and of course that means shopping for supplies. With a LSS that only minimally carries what I like to use that means lots of opportunities for Daniel to make believe and play inside those brown magical cardboard boxes that keep showing up at our doorstep.

8. Daniel has rediscovered his plush animals, which he loving calls his "babies" and walks around with them stuffed in his shirts with their little heads bobbing out of his shirt fronts. It's also not untypical to find plush babies throughout the house with little pillows and blankets, as Daniel puts them to bed here, and there, and there, and there....

9. With the weather warming up (albeit only slightly) the birds are back, and Daniel's favorite pastime in recent weeks has become bird watching in the backyard. It is such a cute thing to see him grab his yellow binoculars and run out to get a better look. We just love that he is learning to appreciating nature.

10. Mother's Day. It was wonderful! No getting dressed up and out for a fussy brunch for us. It was a lazy morning, some yummy greek takeout for a picnic, and a super fun hike on one of the fabulous peninsula trails. We all had such a great time just enjoying a great day outdoors.
